São Paulo, a lovely, chaotic and messy city, with a lot of things to do and places to visit. However, there is a particular thing you can’t miss, the Municipal Market of São Paulo better known for the locals as “Mercadão”. This market has been there since the 30’s. Full of fresh and exotic fruits and vegetables. Here you can find everything from spices, juices and cachaças to fresh cheese, meat and fish. If you think of something delicious you can probably find it in this market. The venders are really nice and if you ask, you can try the fruits for free.
If you go to São Paulo, this is a ”must” to visit. You won’t regret it. I advice to go during the morning, because is less crowded and you can enjoy every corner. I also recommend to go with an empty stomach, or you will miss the chance to try the local food, including the infamous mortadela sandwich.
Location: Rua da Cantareira, 306, near Rua 25 de Março and Parque Dom Pedro. If going by subway, get off at Luz or São Bento subway stations (blue line)
